Science and Technical Advisory Subcommittee
The MassBays Science and Technical Advisory Subcommittee (STAC) provides objective scientific and technical guidance for the monitoring, restoration and protection of the MassBays study area.
The STAC is comprised of scientists, technical experts, and representatives from government agencies, academia, industry, and non-profit organizations. Collectively, STAC brings a diversity of background and expertise to provide the Management Committee with essential guidance and advice on key science and technical issues related to MassBays' estuaries and the communities that depend on them for their wellbeing. By addressing the Management Committee's needs, STAC plays a crucial role in advancing the implementation of the CCMP, ensuring that decision-making and policies are informed by the best scientific and technical information available.
MEETINGS
The STAC shall meet three to four times per year, in person and remotely. In 2025 meetings shall be held on the following dates:

To fulfil this purpose. STAC will
- Provide a forum for MassBays and its partners to examine, discuss, and exchange ideas on existing and emerging issues and facilitate the integration of sound science into effective management of the MassBays study area;
- Support, review, and advice on research, monitoring, and assessment priorities to address management needs;
- Support the implementation of a framework to track the status and trends of the health of the Bays, revise goals and thresholds, and provide information to assess progress in the implementation of the CCMP;
- Provide advice to determine the scope of and contribute content to the State of the Bays Report;
- Provide advice regarding technical issues, programs and projects to the Management Conference, and ensure peer review of technical products;
- Assist in the development of requests for, and evaluation of, proposals;
- Assist in identifying funding opportunities, including potential partnerships to enhance technical and scientific expertise for research and monitoring.
